Literature Text

Little clicks and clacks in the hallway, murmurs
Wooden floorboards creak, old memories from 1962
wisp up from the crack beneath the door

Moonlight shines in windows, outlining furniture
Lace curtains move with the slightest meandering breeze
I lived here once, long ago, another life

The Midway and the Pavilion aren’t far, just past
the trainyard where ghostly conductors check watches
and shout “All aboard!” to gaunt passengers

Last night I dreamt the world was on fire; tonight I sit
and bathe in moonlight, remembering, listening, watching
the shadows move beneath the door

This has quite a niceness to it.  It doesn't go far because it doesn't need to.  It's mind wanders, but not far- it's more like time is the uncontrollable variable driving the "skips".  I quite like the end:
.....remembering, listening, watching
the shadows move beneath the door
That's super powerful stuff and something I'm very familiar with, myself.  :)
